Differences between water-based and dry spray booths

Today, let’s briefly introduce the key differences between water-based and dry spray booths. Simply put, water-based spray booths are better suited for continuous painting of small to medium-sized workpieces. The advantages of water-based booths include excellent paint mist filtration, high operational efficiency, straightforward handling, flexible and convenient installation, stable performance, and reliable safety. However, in terms of upfront costs, they tend to be more expensive compared to dry spray booths. On the other hand, dry spray booths are ideal for smaller workpieces or projects with lower production volumes—such as single items or small-batch manufacturing. The main benefits of dry booths are their simple design, minimal ventilation requirements, and relatively low air pressure. Additionally, the initial equipment investment is typically more affordable than that of water-based booths. That said, dry spray booths do come with certain drawbacks: they require frequent replacement of filter materials due to higher consumption, and paint particles easily accumulate on interior walls and baffle plates, necessitating regular cleaning. Moreover, since paint deposits in the ducts and filters aren’t removed thoroughly and promptly, there’s an increased risk of fire hazards.
