About the uses and precautions for spray towers!

What is a spray tower? A spray tower is also known as a water scrubber, washing tower, or purification tower. By nature, it can be categorized into acidic scrubbers and alkaline scrubbers. In terms of shape, it’s divided into vertical scrubbers and horizontal scrubbers. Additionally, based on material, it includes PP scrubbers and fiberglass scrubbers, among others. The primary applications of spray towers include: exhaust gas absorption, air purification, dust removal, oil-contaminated wastewater treatment in machinery manufacturing plants, and odor-control systems at sewage treatment stations. So, what does a spray tower look like? It consists of several key components: the tower body, packing materials, a liquid separator, a vapor-liquid separator, a spray system, a circulating water pump, a circulating water tank, and a chemical storage and dosing system. Here are some important considerations when using a spray tower: 1. **Adjusting Circulating Water Volume:** This is controlled by the spray tower’s water supply pump. When operating one boiler, only one pump needs to be turned on. However, during winter when two or three boilers run simultaneously, both pumps should be activated. Meanwhile, the slurry pump’s flow rate should be adjusted to match that of the circulating pumps for optimal performance. 2. **Chemical Dosage in the Tower’s Addition Tank:** When running one boiler, add 2 bags of alkali and 5 bags of quicklime. If two or three boilers are operating in winter, increase the chemical dosage proportionally. 3. **Regular Cleaning of the Spray Tower’s Sedimentation Tank:** Clean the tank frequently—once a week in summer and once every three days in winter—to prevent clogging. 4. **Discharging Sludge from the Ash-Water Separator:** Each shift, open the discharge valve until clean water flows out. 5. **Routine Maintenance of Moving Parts:** Regularly inspect and lubricate all rotating components. Address any malfunctions promptly to ensure the spray tower maintains its effective desulfurization performance. 6. **Safety Precautions During Chemical Additions:** Always prioritize personal safety and mutual safety awareness when adding chemicals on upper or lower levels of the tower. 7. **Post-Operation Cleanup:** After finishing work, thoroughly clean the area to leave the site tidy and free of debris. When designing a PP water-spray scrubber for exhaust gas treatment, it’s essential to create a compact yet aesthetically pleasing layout that optimizes space utilization while ensuring ease of operation, efficient management, and minimal land use.
