Common Paint Exhaust Solutions
Manufacturing industries such as automobiles, furniture, and metal products generate smoke gases and volatile organic compounds as spray-painting waste during the spraying process. These waste gases can be scientifically treated using the UV photocatalytic method, the activated carbon adsorption method, and the spray washing method.

Working principle of UV photocatalysis: During operation, high-energy ultraviolet (UV) rays and oxygen act together to generate free oxygen radicals. These combine with oxygen molecules to produce ozone. The substances produced then interact with ultraviolet rays to carry out decomposition, converting the waste gas components into low-molecular-weight compounds, water, and carbon dioxide, which are then discharged through the exhaust duct.
The deodorization efficiency can reach over 95%. This method can handle various complex organic waste gases containing ammonia, benzene, disulfides, and other compounds. The purification technology is very stable and does not cause secondary pollution. In addition, the ultraviolet lamp tubes have a long service life, and both operation and maintenance costs are extremely low.

Working principle of the activated carbon adsorption method: This method operates by adsorbing gases through activated carbon materials or via capillary action. Activated carbon is a porous substance with a large number of tiny pores, giving it a huge surface area that allows it to make full contact with the exhaust gas. At the same time, it adsorbs odor-causing gas molecules through van der Waals forces—the forces between molecules.
The initial deodorization efficiency is only 65%, and the efficiency will decrease or even fail in the later stage. It is suitable for low-concentration odors. However, it performs poorly in treating gases with high moisture content and has significant limitations. Activated carbon needs to be replaced frequently, which may cause secondary pollution.

Working principle of the spray method: Through the spray nozzles of the spray tower, liquid is sprayed in the form of mist or fine droplets onto the odor molecules attached to the foul particles. This method uses water to adsorb and dissolve the pollutants in the exhaust gas through a series of chemical reactions, thereby purifying the exhaust gas and removing pollution.
For the treatment of waste paint gas in the spray-painting industry, there are various mature and advanced solutions available. When choosing a solution, one should fully consider the chemical composition, concentration, and volume of the waste gas to be treated, in order to ensure the effectiveness of the waste paint gas management.
